El presidente Evo Morales promulgó ayer un decreto supremo para la creación de un Centro Productivo Apícola en el trópico de Cochabamba que será el más grande de Bolivia y producirá 250 toneladas de miel al año.
“La capacidad de producción será de 250 toneladas de miel al año”, explicó el Mandatario, al recordar que el centro apícola de Yapacaní, hasta ahora el más grande del país, produce 60 toneladas al año.
La producción de la empresa Promiel incluirá -además de la propia miel- 60.000 toneladas de propóleo al año y 12.700 bolsas de 250 gramos de polen y cera.
En un acto público realizado en la localidad de Samuzabety, ubicada en la carretera Villa Tunari-Isinuta, Morales anunció que se invertirán 42.219.000 bolivianos para la construcción y equipamiento del proyecto.
El Ministerio de Desarrollo Rural y Tierras y el Ministerio de Desarrollo Productivo y Economía Plural realizaron el diseño final de ese centro productivo, que tiene el objetivo de fortalecer la producción apícola nacional.
Esto se logrará al ofrecer a los apicultores colmenas con características genéticas mejoradas, transferencia de técnicas apropiadas en el manejo de las mismas, así como el acceso a tecnologías modernas e innovadoras.
Morales explicó que se trata del paso inicial de una industria, con la obligación de hacer “sus gemelas” en otros departamentos como La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, Tarija y Chuquisaca.
“Esta nueva empresa del Estado tiene que salir muy bien y tenemos que acelerar la instalación”, agregó.
Detalles del proyecto
Para la implementación del centro apícola se cuenta con una superficie de terreno de 40 hectáreas a orillas del río Mambuelo, en el municipio de Villa Tunari. El área construida abarcará 10.316 metros cuadrados.
Además, se tiene prevista la implementación de cuatro componentes: el Centro de Mejora Genética y Reproducción (que incluye un Laboratorio de Sanidad Apícola), la Escuela de Manejo Apícola, el Centro de Producción de Productos Apícolas (que incluye una carpintería para cajas y una laminadora-estampadora de cera) y la Planta de Procesado Apícola, con una capacidad de producción de 250 toneladas métricas.
Los estudios de preinversión del Centro Productivo Apícola ascendieron a 551.801 bolivianos, que fueron financiados con recursos de cooperación de la Unión Europea.
Con este proyecto, se beneficiarán 24.968 apicultores de todo el país, agrupados en 160 asociaciones, de las cuales 48 están en el trópico de Cochabamba.
“Ése es el cambio profundo, aunque cuesta cambiar de mentalidad, descolonizar a algunos funcionarios; ojalá las nuevas generaciones tengan una nueva mentalidad. Estamos en el proceso de profundas transformaciones en bien de todos y todas”, dijo el Mandatario en la ceremonia inaugural.
La miel en cifras
Estadísticas Según el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) y el Centro de Promoción Agropecuaria Campesina, Bolivia produce actualmente 940 toneladas de miel por año y consume 1.042. Las importaciones de miel por año provenientes de Argentina ascienden a 102.644 kilogramos por año, según fuentes oficiales.
Abejas Con el nuevo Centro Productivo Apícola, se mejorará la genética de las abejas reina y, además, se estima que se reproducirán unas 36.000 abejas por año.
Beneficio Con la implementación de este proyecto, se beneficiará a 24.968 apicultores de todo el país agrupados en 160 asociaciones, de las cuales 48 operan en el trópico de Cochabamba.
